Becoming the Kind of Church Demons Fear

Luke 9.18–45 — 7/8

We only discover + experience true life when we follow the teachings + example of Jesus. (v24) People throughout the CV need you. Father, help us reach them. Help them say YES and be transformed.

Lord, help us be mindful of + protect us from both enemies mentioned in this passage. First, the evil spirits + demons (v39, 42). Protect us with your holy angels (v26) + the presence of your Spirit. These fallen beings influence those who are far from you + seek to torment your faithful followers. Use Passion to reclaim the CV + drive out the kingdom of darkness.

But also, keep us from the influence of + the natural tendency to imitate the influential religious leaders of our day (v21).They are powerless to truly help those tormented by the demons + fallen sons of heaven. The religious twist their lives with lies that "have turned them away from doing the right things." (v41) That's not what PS/DHS/CV needs.

Father, help us to live in your presence + experience your power to save + transform those who need it most. We want to be instruments you use to do great things, not useless spectators filled with our own arrogance. We want to seek you + enjoy "life with you as our driving priority." (v18, 28) In you alone we experience true life (v24) + help others do the same.

Let everyone be awestruck + stunned to see such power + the majesty of God flow through Passion Church. Let everyone marvel at what they are about to witness. (v43) Father, move in power.

Bring revival. Bring salvation. Bring transformation. Bring your life.
