Five Views on the Gospel — Introduction

Father, I want the people of PS/DHS/CV to see that who Jesus is + what he promises to do really are wonderful news. Help me + the people of Passion Church to truly take the gospel with us wherever we go. Help us to live it + share it in a way that fits our context + what the wandering people here need.

Don't let us get lost in the debates. Don't let us be contentious. Keep us from being confused about our mission + our message.

The gospel must be contextualized. Even the 12 cities in the desert need it differently articulated + presented because the audience is diverse. The gospel is not a universal mathematic formula.

Even the authors of Scripture present the gospel differently! The New Testament presents several different facets of the gospel. Because the gospel must be contextualized to present it to anyone.

And we are all influenced by our traditions + training + baggage. We all have different journeys + relationships with you. Of course we all enjoy, emphasize + present the message differently.

So Father, help us be what our community needs. Help us live + share the message they need. And help us to be open-hearted + gracious in it all.

Father, bring revival to the CV!
