Daily Readings — A flourishing life stays connected to the Source of Life

Monday

Psalm 1.1-3

Psalm 1 begins with a picture of a life that flourishes. Not a perfect life. Not a life without pain or pressure. A life that is deeply rooted, continually nourished, and able to keep growing through every season.

But the psalm also reminds us that flourishing does not happen accidentally. The voices we listen to, the ideas we accept, and the things we continually give our attention to shape the people we become.

Before you reach for your phone today, spend five quiet minutes with Jesus. Ask yourself honestly: What has been capturing my attention lately, and how is it shaping my life?

🌳 Jesus, show me what has been shaping me. Capture my attention and root my life more deeply in you.

Tuesday

Philippians 4.8-9

What captures our attention eventually begins shaping our hearts. Paul encourages us to think about what is true, honorable, right, pure, beautiful, and worthy of praise.

This does not mean ignoring everything difficult or surrounding ourselves only with religious content. It means becoming intentional about what we repeatedly allow to fill our minds.

Think about the music you hear, the shows you watch, the accounts you follow, and the conversations you return to. What are they teaching you to value, fear, desire, or believe?

🎧 Jesus, help me notice what I am allowing to shape my mind. Lead my attention toward what is true, beautiful, and life-giving.

Wednesday

John 15.1-8

Jesus describes himself as a vine and his followers as branches. A branch does not produce fruit by trying harder. It produces fruit by staying connected to its source.

The same is true for us. Love, peace, joy, patience, courage, and spiritual strength do not grow through pressure and guilt. They grow as we remain connected to Jesus.

Today, do not ask, “How can I try harder?” Ask, “How can I stay connected to Jesus in the middle of my actual life?”

🍇 Jesus, I do not want to live disconnected from you. Help me remain close to you and let your life flow through mine.

Thursday

Jeremiah 17.5-8

Jeremiah describes two people facing the same heat and drought. One dries up, while the other continues growing. The difference is not their circumstances. The difference is where their roots are drawing life from.

You cannot control every difficult season. You cannot prevent every disappointment, loss, or change. But you can decide where you will place your trust.

What have you been depending on to make you feel secure? Your income? A relationship? Approval? Your health? Your own ability to keep everything under control?

🌴 God, deepen my trust in you. When life feels uncertain, help me keep drawing strength, peace, and hope from you.

Friday

John 4.7-15

Jesus meets a woman who has been searching for satisfaction in places that have left her thirsty. He does not shame her. He offers her living water.

We all know what it is like to keep returning to something that promises life but cannot sustain us. Success, relationships, comfort, entertainment, and approval may be good gifts, but they cannot be the source of our lives.

Jesus is not inviting you into more religion. He is inviting you to receive a kind of life that only he can give.

💧 Jesus, I am tired of looking for life in things that cannot satisfy me. Fill me with your living water.

Saturday

Colossians 3.1-17

Following Jesus means allowing him to shape every part of us. Our thoughts. Our reactions. Our relationships. Our words. Our choices.

This kind of transformation usually happens slowly. We keep turning our attention toward Jesus, listening to his voice, and choosing his way. Over time, our roots grow deeper and new fruit begins appearing in our lives.

What is one small change you can make to create an environment that helps you stay connected to Jesus? Maybe it is changing what you listen to during your commute, putting your phone somewhere else in the morning, or spending more time with people who help your faith grow.

🌱 Jesus, help me build rhythms and relationships that keep me close to you. Keep growing something beautiful in my life.

Sunday

Psalm 1.1-3

Read Psalm 1 again and notice the image of the tree. It is alive, stable, fruitful, and able to endure because it has been planted beside a continual source of water.

That is the life God wants for you. Not a life built on constant pressure, performance, or trying to hold everything together yourself. A life connected to him.

As you prepare for worship today, look back over the week. What has Jesus shown you about your attention? Where do your roots need to grow deeper? Where have you already begun noticing new life?

🌊 Jesus, you are the Source of Life. Capture my heart again, keep me connected to you, and help my life flourish.
