When life gets dark, you don’t have to create the light. Look to God.
Monday
Matthew 6.25-34
A lot of our stress comes from living in a day that has not happened yet. We imagine what might go wrong, rehearse conversations, worry about decisions, and try to prepare ourselves for every possible outcome. Jesus does not tell us that tomorrow is unimportant. He reminds us that we do not have to carry tomorrow today.
God is already present in the day you have actually been given. Maybe it is exciting. Maybe it already feels heavy. Maybe it is completely ordinary. Whatever kind of day it is, you do not have to wait for a better one to walk with Jesus.
Pay attention to what is directly in front of you today. What is one conversation to have, one responsibility to handle, one person to love, or one decision to trust God with? You do not need grace for the whole week right now. You need grace for today.
🌅 Jesus, help me live in the day you have given me. Keep me from carrying tomorrow before it arrives, and help me trust you with what is in front of me today.
Tuesday
Isaiah 43.1-3
God’s promise to his people in Isaiah is not that they will never face deep water or walk through difficult places. His promise is that when they do, he will be with them.
That is an important difference.
Sometimes we assume God’s presence should mean life gets easier. Then when something hurts, goes wrong, or takes longer than expected, we wonder where God went. Isaiah reminds us that difficult circumstances and God’s presence can exist at the same time.
Think about the hardest part of your life right now. Instead of only asking God to take it away, ask him to help you recognize how he is meeting you in it. Maybe it is strength you did not know you had, encouragement from someone at the right time, wisdom for the next step, or simply enough grace to keep moving forward.
🌊 God, help me recognize your presence in the places I would rather avoid. Remind me that I do not have to walk through anything alone.
Wednesday
John 15.9-11
Jesus talks about joy in a surprising way. He does not connect it to getting everything you want or having a trouble-free life. He connects joy to remaining close to him.
That means joy is not something you have to manufacture when life feels difficult. It grows out of relationship.
Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to improve our circumstances that we forget to simply be with Jesus in the circumstances we already have. Today, take a few quiet minutes and tell him honestly how you are doing. You do not need the right words. You do not have to make yourself sound positive. Just be present with him.
Then remember what Jesus says in this passage: you are loved.
Joy can begin there. Not with a perfect day, but with the realization that you are loved by God in this one.
☀️ Jesus, help me stay close to you today. Let my joy grow from knowing that I am loved and that you are here with me.
Thursday
2 Corinthians 4.7-9, 16-18
Paul knew what it was like to have difficult days. He describes being pressed, confused, and knocked down. Yet he also says he was not crushed, abandoned, or destroyed.
His faith did not make him untouched by life. It gave him a different way to understand what life was doing to him.
One bad day can make everything feel bad. One disappointment can convince us that nothing is working. Paul reminds us not to judge the whole story by one painful moment. God may be doing something deeper than you can see right now.
Think about one area of your life where you feel discouraged. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening?” try asking, “God, what are you building in me while I walk through this?”
You may not see the answer yet. But you can trust that today is not the whole story.
🌱 God, when I feel discouraged, help me remember that you are still working. Give me strength to keep going even when I cannot see what you are doing yet.
Friday
Philippians 4.4-7
Paul tells us to rejoice, but he does not tell us to ignore what makes us anxious. Instead, he invites us to bring those things directly to God.
That matters because joy and anxiety are not always opposites. You can be worried about something and still know that God is near. You can have unanswered questions and still experience his peace.
Take one thing that has been occupying too much space in your mind and name it clearly to God today. Tell him what you are afraid of, what you wish would happen, and what you cannot control. Then remember one way he has already been faithful to you.
Prayer does not always change the situation immediately. Sometimes it changes what has the loudest voice inside us.
🕊️ God, I give you what I am worried about today. Help me remember that you are near, and let your peace become louder than my fear.
Saturday
Psalm 103.1-5
David tells himself not to forget what God has done. He remembers God’s forgiveness, healing, rescue, love, mercy, and goodness.
Sometimes gratitude needs that kind of intentional remembering.
Hard things have a way of becoming the loudest parts of our story. We remember the disappointment, the unanswered prayer, the person who hurt us, or the plan that did not work. Gratitude does not mean pretending those things did not happen. It means refusing to let them become the only things we remember.
Look back over the last few months. Where has God helped you? Who has encouraged you? What have you made it through? Where have you grown? What good thing have you received that you could easily overlook?
Write down three things and thank God for them.
🙏 God, help me remember your goodness today. Thank you for the ways you have carried me, helped me, and stayed with me even when life was difficult.
Sunday
Hebrews 13.5-8
Life changes constantly. New seasons begin, routines shift, relationships change, and plans rarely unfold exactly the way we expect. But Hebrews gives us something steady in the middle of all that change: Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
That means you do not have to know what this week will bring in order to trust the One who will be with you in it.
Maybe today feels exciting. Maybe it feels difficult. Maybe it is simply another ordinary Sunday. Whatever kind of day it is, you can say YES to Jesus in this one.
Ask him to lead you, help you notice his presence, and give you the courage to trust him with whatever comes next.
Joy is not found in a perfect day, but in the God who is with us today.
🙌 Jesus, I say YES to you today. Whatever this day brings, help me walk through it with you and remember that you are faithful.
