God is already at work. You have a part to play.
Day 1 | Monday, September 7
Acts 8:26–29
Before Philip ever reaches the Ethiopian, God is already moving. He knows where the man is, what he is reading, and the questions forming in his mind. Philip is not being sent to start something from scratch. He is being invited into something God has already begun.
That changes the way we think about the people around us. Someone may look uninterested in God while privately wrestling with questions you know nothing about. Someone may be going through a season that has made them more open than they were six months ago.
You do not have to know everything God is doing. You just have to stay available.
Today: Ask God, “Who are you already at work in around me?” Then pay attention to who comes to mind.
Prayer: God, help me notice where you are already working and be ready to play my part.
Day 2 | Tuesday, September 8
Luke 19:1–10
Zacchaeus was easy to overlook or even avoid. The crowd knew his reputation. Jesus noticed the person.
Sometimes playing our part starts long before we ever talk about faith. It starts by noticing someone. Who gets overlooked? Who seems disconnected? Who has been around you for months, but you have never really taken the time to know them?
Jesus consistently saw people others passed by. Following him means learning to see people that way too.
You do not need to manufacture a spiritual conversation today. Start smaller. Look up. Pay attention. Learn a name. Ask a question. Listen to the answer.
Today: Choose one person you normally pass by or only interact with casually. Slow down enough to really notice them.
Prayer: Jesus, teach me to see people the way you do and make room for the people others might miss.
Day 3 | Wednesday, September 9
Colossians 4:2–6
Paul connects prayer with opportunity. He asks believers to pray that God would open doors for the message, and then tells them to be wise and gracious in the conversations that follow.
That is a much lighter way to approach sharing our faith. You do not have to force open a door. Ask God to open one.
Maybe the person you are praying for asks why you have hope. Maybe they mention something they are struggling with. Maybe an ordinary conversation suddenly becomes an opportunity to listen, encourage, or talk about what Jesus has done in your life.
Your job is not to create the moment. Your job is to recognize it when it comes.
Today: Pray specifically for the person God brought to mind this week. Ask him to open the right door at the right time.
Prayer: God, open doors I could never force open, and give me wisdom to recognize them.
Day 4 | Thursday, September 10
1 Corinthians 3:5–7
Paul gives us a freeing picture of how God works through people. One person plants. Another waters. But God is the one who makes things grow.
You may only be one part of someone’s story.
Someone else may have prayed for them years ago. A friend may have answered one of their questions. Something difficult may have caused them to reconsider what they believe. You may extend an invitation this week. Someone you have never met may help them take another step later.
You do not need to accomplish the entire journey. Faithfully play the part God gives you and trust him with everything you cannot control.
Today: Give God the person you have been worried about. Tell him specifically what you cannot control, and trust him with the results.
Prayer: God, help me be faithful with my part and trust you to bring the growth.
Day 5 | Friday, September 11
John 1:43–46
When Philip tells Nathanael about Jesus, Nathanael is skeptical. Philip does not launch into an argument or pressure him into agreeing. He simply says, “Come and see for yourself.”
Sometimes an invitation is one of the simplest ways we can play our part.
You do not need to promise that someone will love church. You do not need to answer every objection before they come. You can simply make room for them to experience what has become meaningful to you.
Who could you invite to join you this Sunday? Worship, tacos, conversations, and people who will be glad they came. Maybe “come and see” is exactly the next step someone in your life needs.
Today: Send one genuine, personal invitation. Not a mass text. One person.
Prayer: Jesus, give me courage to make an invitation and freedom to trust you with their response.
Day 6 | Saturday, September 12
Luke 5:27–32
When Levi begins following Jesus, one of his first responses is to throw a party and fill the room with people he knows. He creates a place where his existing relationships and his new relationship with Jesus can intersect.
That is a beautiful picture of mission. It does not always require a stage, a sermon, or a complicated strategy. Sometimes it looks like food, a table, conversation, and making room for someone.
Tomorrow’s Taco Fiesta can be exactly that. It is not about getting someone onto a church attendance list. It is an opportunity to say, “Come be with me. Meet some people I care about. There’s room for you.”
Today: Think about tomorrow. Is there someone you could invite, sit with, introduce around, or intentionally welcome?
Prayer: God, use the spaces we create to help people experience your love and discover that there is room for them.
Day 7 | Sunday, September 13
Acts 8:26–40
Read the whole story again.
Notice how much God does. He directs Philip. He is already working in the Ethiopian’s heart. He brings their paths together. He opens a conversation. And he allows Philip to participate in something that will change another person’s life.
That is the privilege we carry into today.
Look around during Worship and Taco Fiesta. Someone may be here because another person noticed them, prayed for them, and invited them. Someone may be taking a step toward Jesus that nobody else can see yet.
And God lets us be part of it.
God is already at work. You have a part to play.
Keep asking him for eyes to notice, a heart to pray, and courage to invite.
Prayer: God, you are awesome. Thank you that I get to be part of what you are doing in someone else’s life.
