That Is the Wonderful News

A World Historical Force

As I read today in Luke 1, the church in America today misses the point of the wonderful news of Jesus. Jesus offers himself as God's doorway into the life that is truly life.

He promises wholeness for our lives. He comes where we are & he brings us the life we hunger for. His enduring relevance in the world is based on his historically proven ability to speak to, to heal, & empower the individual human condition.

And yet, "the 'gospels' that predominate... speak only of preparing to die or else correcting social practices & conditions." But this misses the whole point of Jesus!

The church does not currently understand who he is & what he brings. And this is the greatest tragedy in the world!

Father, never let me lose sight of this again, in my life, for Passion Church, my family, and the Coachella Valley.

Jesus came so we can enjoy life. That is the wonderful news the people of Palm Springs need to hear...
